Congiunzioni Festival 2017

Congiunzioni Festival 2017 is a cultural promotion project, curated by Maria Grazia Galatà, Giovanni Asmundo and the Cantiere Peripli artistic collective, in collaboration with Centro Culturale Candiani in Mestre (Venice) and the Romanian Insitute of Culture and Research in Humanities.

The international artistic festival Congiunzioni started in 2015, with the aim to explore the subject of connections between the arts and the peoples. Last edition focused on the relation between writing and image. The event was held in Spinea Library and ex-Bersaglieri Cinema during two days, involving 33 artists coming from Italy and abroad.

The 2017 edition is intended to create a tangible occasion of dialogue and approaching of cultures, thanks to the meeting of poetic textes written in 6 different languages.

Fourteen affirmed poets coming from all over Italy, Mediterranean and Middle East will hold their readings and performances, mixing their voices in a event thought to promote values such as cultural exchange, broadening of horizons through the diffusion of poetry.

Performative readings will be bilingual, engaging with the topic of translation as a priviliged place for construction of bridges between cultures. Thus, it will be possibile to listen to the texts both in original language and their poetic translation in Italian or eventually in English.

The authors’ voices will bring singular and universal stories of contemporaneity from different parts of the world, facing the topics of migration, literature coming from border areas, including poetic witnesses on human rights and status of women in particular.

The program is concentrated in one day and is enriched with artistic video projections in between the readings.
